Day Nineteen - Nashville, Tennessee

What started as a 7:00 am departure time ended up being pushed back until 9:30, but for good reason.  Before we went to bed, Stevie offered to run to the store to pick up some stuff for breakfast for when we woke up. It was delicious! We finally found a better breakfast than Cracker Barrel. We had pancakes (with chocolate chips!), eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, cinnamon rolls, strawberries, fried potatoes and even more. It was wonderful! After breakfast we couldn't put off leaving any longer, so we woke the kids up, said goodbye to everyone and headed out of town.

Jessica and I rocked out in the car for the solid first hour. For the most part people just looked and laughed, but we had a few that danced with us when they saw us. I waved at an older couple with California plates, and you could see the confusion on their faces until they saw that we also had California plates. We had finally grabbed some spoons at Stevie and Charlotte's so we snacked on our pudding halfway through the morning.

We stopped at Popeyes for lunch... fantastic! Their popcorn chicken was wonderful; it had much more chicken than breading (especially when compared to my old favorite, KFC) and had the perfect amount of spicy.

We made it to the hotel in Nashville around 5:00, although we also crossed into Central Time, so it felt an hour later to us. Jess ended up taking a nap in the hotel room while I sat and watched a movie before we got ready to go out on the down. Downtown Nashville (as the front desk guy showed us on a map) has a whole host of bars and clubs.

We had him call a cab, and headed downtown with the intent of going to the Wildhorse Saloon. Upon seeing the look of confusion on our faces when we stepped out of the cab, two police officers called us over and asked if we had any questions (one then followed up his question with "no, unfortunately we can't go to dinner with you, we have to stay here). :) According to the policemen, we didn't want to go to the Wildhorse, as it was a concert venue for Snoop Dogg (I believe is who he said) tonight. Instead we were pointed in the direction of The Stage for some good, live country music. We were also directed towards Jacks for some barbecue (we had last eaten at noon, and I was long past hungry), but Jessica was distracted by Coyote Ugly so we headed inside there. The drinks were small, but strong and the one breadstick I had was filled with mozzarella (what a delicious surprise :) ), but eventually we left and headed over the The Stage. When we got there, a guy named Mitchell Oglesby was up on stage playing. He was pretty good, sounded good when he was singing some of the classics and was fun to watch on stage. The place was packed, but we managed to squeeze our way up to the front row. After watching him play, we headed out and hit up another place downtown to continue the night. Jess and I ended up not coming back to the hotel (yay for cabs!) until almost 6:00 this morning. Hence why this is being written now (Sunday morning). But still, we are up at 9:00 and ready to head into Nashville to see some sights in the daytime.
